Getting started
Seven short steps from opening a tab to your first top-up. Each step names the features it relies on.
01Start
Start
Open the app and type what you want to build. The first prompt does not need an account.
When you are ready to keep your work, sign in. Your projects, chat and credits are tied to the account from then on.
- Try one prompt free without an accountSee what the agent can do before you sign up.
- Sign in with email/password, Google or GitHubSign in the way you already do.
- Onboarding overlay and Getting Started checklistA short guided start so the first build is not confusing.
02Build
Build
Choose a mode, describe the change, and read the plan before the build starts.
Ask answers questions about your code. Plan writes the steps and waits for you. Agent writes files and runs the build. Debug starts from an error. In every mode the agent shows its plan, then the files it wants to change, then the preview.
In chat, the agent proposes commands and waits for a yes. A build writes its files, installs and previews; every file it wrote can be undone with one click. Diffs proposed in chat are reviewed per file and per hunk. Stop before the reply finishes and that request is not charged.
- Composer modes: Ask, Agent, Plan, DebugChoose whether the agent talks, plans, builds or debugs.
- AI build agent (Agent mode writes files)Describe the app you want and watch the files appear.
- Plan first, then approve and executeSee the steps before any code is written, then say go.
- Live preview of the built appSee your app running the moment the agent finishes.
- Approve, edit or reject commands the agent wants to runNothing runs in your project until you say yes.
- Review and accept/reject proposed edits (per file and per hunk)Approve each change before it lands in your files.
- Keep / Undo for an applied agent editRoll back an edit you do not like with one click.
- Stop button; no charge if stopped before output completesChange your mind mid-build and you do not pay for what you stopped early.
03Bring code
Bring code
Start from a repository, a folder on your computer, or nothing at all. Leave with a zip.
Paste the URL of a public repository to import it. Open a folder from your computer and the files stay in the browser. When you want your code somewhere else, download the project as a zip.
- Import a public GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket repo by URLStart from code you already wrote somewhere else.
- Open a local folder (File System Access API)Bring a project from your computer into HEWA in a couple of clicks.
- Download project as zipTake your whole project with you as a zip file at any time.
04Pay
Pay
HEWA sells credits and nothing else. One request costs a known number of credits, shown before you send.
A credit costs KES 12 with VAT included. Top up any amount from KES 35 to KES 3,500; KES 120 becomes 10 credits. Top up from the credits panel inside the app; the full price list is on the pricing page.
- Prepaid credits (pay as you go, no plans)Buy credits when you need them and spend them only on what you run.
- Per-credit price (KES 12 with VAT)One simple price per credit, shown in KES with a USD reference.
- Top up any amount from KES 35 to KES 3,500Start small or load up; the amount is yours to choose.
- Top up credits with M-Pesa (Daraja STK Push)Top up with the phone in your pocket, the same way you buy airtime.
- Credit cost shown per tier before you sendKnow the price of a request before you run it.
- Receipts with VAT, downloadable as PDFGet a proper receipt for every top-up for your records or your employer.

07Browsers and devices
Browsers and devices
Chrome and Edge run the full IDE, terminal included. Phones work; Safari works with one caveat.
- In-browser terminal (WebContainer, Chrome and Edge)Run npm and shell commands right in the browser tab.
- Mobile layout and keyboard barBuild from your phone when that is the computer you have.
- Installable web app (PWA) with offline shellAdd HEWA to your home screen and open it like an app.
HEWA runs in Chrome and Edge on a laptop or desktop; on an Android phone, the editor, agent and preview in Chrome. In Safari and on iOS you can edit, build, preview and export; the live terminal is not available there.
