Built for a phone, a data bundle and a mobile money line.
Most of the people HEWA is for build on a phone, pay for data by the bundle and keep their money on that phone. HEWA treats those as the normal case: the IDE runs in a browser tab, credits are prepaid, and the product is made on the continent, for the continent.
Conditions HEWA is built for
- Computer
- A phone, most days. Sometimes a borrowed laptop. Rarely a fast one.
- Network
- Mobile data, bought by the bundle. It drops. It comes back.
- Money
- Mobile money, prepaid. The cost is known before it is spent.
- Place
- Across Africa. Made on the continent; priced in KES with a USD reference.
Pay the way you already pay
Credits are prepaid. The top-up arrives on your phone as a mobile money prompt, the same way you buy airtime. No card needed, no plan to cancel.
- Top up credits with M-Pesa (Daraja STK Push)Top up with the phone in your pocket, the same way you buy airtime.
- Per-credit price: KES 12 with 16% VAT includedOne simple price per credit, shown in KES with a USD reference.
- Available in Kenya (M-Pesa, KES)Top up from Kenya by M-Pesa, in KES.
- Available in Nigeria, Ghana and South AfricaTop up from Lagos, Accra and Johannesburg as well as Nairobi.
- Prices shown in NGN, ZAR, GHS, ETB, USDSee the price in your own currency.
What a top-up looks like, at KES 12 per credit
- KES 120 ≈ USD 0.90 (reference) 10 credits
- KES 600 ≈ USD 4.50 (reference) 50 credits
- KES 1,200 ≈ USD 9.00 (reference) 100 credits
- KES 3,000 ≈ USD 22.50 (reference) 250 credits
Any amount from KES 35 to KES 3,500 works; credits are KES 12 each.
Top up by mobile money, card or bank transfer: a prompt on your phone, a VAT receipt as PDF.
Build apps that take money
The mobile money starter runs against the provider's sandbox in the browser; the card-checkout starter is a front-end you finish with your own verify endpoint.
- M-Pesa STK Push starter (Daraja) for user appsAdd M-Pesa payments to your own app from a ready-made starter.
- Paystack checkout starter for user appsA front-end checkout for card payments you finish with your own verify endpoint.
- Starter templates (M-Pesa STK Push, Paystack Checkout, Supabase CRUD, Mobile Landing)Start from a working payments app instead of a blank page.
- African API snippet catalog (API Marketplace)Copy working snippets for the payment and SMS APIs your users already have.
- Payments MCP server (M-Pesa and Paystack tools)The agent has accurate M-Pesa and Paystack integration knowledge on hand.
The payments tools inside the agent are reference material and local helpers: they describe each integration and validate inputs. They place no payments. Your app moves money with your own credentials, from your own server.

The customer sees a PIN prompt on their phone.
Safaricom posts the result to CallBackURL;
your app confirms the order there. Field names follow Safaricom's Daraja API; every value is a placeholder. The starter template fills them from your sandbox credentials.
Build in your language
Say the prompt instead of typing it. Switch the interface to the language you think in. Describe what you want in that language too.
Speak
Say what you want to build instead of typing it.
8 voice languages: English, Kiswahili, French, Amharic, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Somali.
Hold the mic, say what you want built, and the words land in the composer as text.
Read
Switch the interface to a language closer to home.
Switch in Settings and the whole IDE follows. The switcher holds these:
- English
- Kiswahili
- Français
- العربية
- አማርኛ
- Hausa
- Yorùbá
- isiZulu
- Lingála
- ትግርኛ
Write
Write your prompt in your own language and the right model picks it up.
HEWA reads the language of your prompt and routes it to the model that handles it best.
HEWA writes down what you say; it does not talk back.
Made for the network you actually have
Connections drop, data costs money, and the fastest computer in the room is often a phone. HEWA is built to keep working with less rather than stop.
- Network indicator (4G/3G/2G and speed) in the headerAlways know what your connection can handle right now.
- Offline editing with queued syncKeep editing when the network drops; your changes sync when it returns.
- Installable web app (PWA) with offline shellAdd HEWA to your home screen and open it like an app.
- Mobile layout and keyboard barBuild from your phone when that is the computer you have.
- Inline tab autocomplete (HEWA Instant)Finish lines of code with one keypress, even on a slow connection.
- Cloud sandbox terminal (server runner)A real Linux shell for your project when your own device is weak.
HEWA runs in Chrome and Edge on a laptop or desktop; on an Android phone, the editor, agent and preview in Chrome. In Safari and on iOS you can edit, build, preview and export; the live terminal is not available there.
Where HEWA is available
Signing in and building is not limited by country. Topping up works in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.
- KenyaTop up from Kenya by M-Pesa, in KES.
- Nigeria, Ghana, South AfricaTop up from Lagos, Accra and Johannesburg as well as Nairobi.
Start from the phone you have
Prepaid credits at KES 12 each, VAT included. Top up by mobile money when you need more.
